Why this supports your day
Tart cherries are one of the few whole foods that naturally contain melatonin precursors and tryptophan, both of which are associated with sleep quality when included as part of a consistent evening routine. Chamomile has a long history of traditional use as a calming botanical. This drink is not a treatment for insomnia or any sleep condition — it is a warm, mindful ritual to complement good sleep habits.
Ingredients
- 100 ml pure tart cherry juice (unsweetened)
- 1 chamomile tea bag (or 1 tsp loose dried chamomile flowers)
- 150 ml freshly boiled water
- 1 tsp raw honey (optional)
- 1 small strip of orange peel (optional — for flavour)
Method
- 1Brew the chamomile tea bag in 150 ml of hot water (around 90°C) for 4–5 minutes. Cover the cup while steeping.
- 2Remove the tea bag and allow to cool for 2 minutes.
- 3Stir in the tart cherry juice and honey if using.
- 4Add a strip of orange peel for aroma, if desired.
- 5Drink about 30 minutes before you plan to wind down for the evening.
